L2Segment

A bare layer-2 broadcast domain pinned to one data center. A segment carries no addressing of its own — no CIDR, no gateway, no DHCP and no metadata endpoint — so guests on one bring their own addresses. Attaching a segment NIC is inert to routing by construction.

  • The resource group this segment belongs to. Every segment belongs to exactly one; the tenant's Default unless it was created in or moved to another.

  • The name of that resource group.

  • Live interfaces on the segment. A delete is refused while this is above zero.

  • the date-time notation as defined by RFC 3339, section 5.6, for example, 2017-07-21T17:32:28Z

  • Display name. DB-only — renaming never touches the provider object.

  • Which network offering the provider object was made from. Every segment this platform creates is plain. config_drive appears only on segments adopted from legacy custom networks, whose provider object attaches a config drive that can hand a FIRST-booting guest an empty network configuration; the kind is surfaced because no operation at the provider can change it.
